AAi Volunteer Educator Program – Inspire, Impact, Grow

Background

At African Academy Islamic (AAi), we believe that knowledge is a light to be shared. Our volunteer educator program welcomes compassionate, qualified individuals from across the world who wish to contribute to holistic, values-based education rooted in both Islamic and secular excellence. Whether you are a teacher, graduate, retired educator, or subject expert, your support makes a real difference to the lives of learners in under-resourced communities in Uganda. Volunteers are invited to teach either online from anywhere in the world or onsite at our beautiful day and boarding campus in Uganda. We’re especially looking for educators in: - English, Math, Science, Handwriting, Drawing, Career Guidance - Arabic, Fiqh, Islamic Art & Calligraphy, and Islamic Theology All volunteers are supported with orientation, safeguarding training, and opportunities to integrate into our warm school culture.

Volunteer Benefits – More Than Just Giving Back

Volunteering at AAi is not only an act of service—it’s a valuable professional and spiritual experience. Here's what we offer:

Upon successful completion of your placement, you will receive a formal certificate of recognition, signed by our Director and stamped by AAi.

We will gladly serve as a professional reference for job or scholarship applications,
highlighting your contributions and teaching skills.

Onsite volunteers who stay 3 weeks or longer will receive a sponsored trip to one of
Uganda’s breathtaking National Parks, such as Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls, or Lake
Mburo, including transport, park entry, and accommodation.

All volunteers receive free training in safeguarding, child protection, and optional CPD
(Continuing Professional Development) modules.

Work alongside passionate educators, join Islamic gatherings, explore local markets, and
enjoy traditional Ugandan and Halal cuisines.

Build your cross-cultural teaching experience and pedagogy while teaching Year 1 pupils
Qur’an or Year 6 learners in Science.

Choose between online teaching from your home or onsite engagement—part-time or full
time, we’ll work around your availability.

AAi upholds a zero-tolerance policy on child abuse. All volunteers undergo safeguarding
screening and training. Our team ensures you are welcomed, safe, and fully supported
throughout your volunteering experience.
